Stones in the sauna - one of the main elements of it. In Nature, there are many types of stones, but not all of them are suitable for using in sauna. Properties of steam in sauna and the time of stones’ serving depend on the type of stone. Power of a stone is huge, it is valued not only because of its physical, but and therapeutic properties. Number of stones for the sauna is very important - the larger is the capacity of stone heater, the richer steam pouring water on hot stones  you will get in sauna. If the amount of stones in the sauna is not large, it is likely to significantly reduce the temperature of the sauna, while abundantly pouring water onto the stones. And you will have to heat the furnace again, until you reach the desired temperature.  It will take a lot of time. Therefore, while choosing a heater, you should always pay attention to the amount of heater stones.

Even in ancient times, Lithuanian and Finnish tribes had built houses of logs with outdoor stone stoves and used them as saunas. In times of feudalism sauna was not only used for having a bath, but also there were performed some therapeutic procedures in sauna: a body was rubbed with medicine, let blooding, was performed the surgery; neurosis, rheumatism, catarrh of the airway and some other diseases were treated. However, in those days the main purpose of sauna was hygiene. And this is topically now, though sauna is mostly used for the purpose of relaxation.
